A Contact Network For The Mentally Disabled

midgardur.com is a contact-network between workplaces, schools an other activities for the disabled within the Nordic countries, where working individuals or trainees are given an opportunity to work, study or to visit another Nordic country for a period of time.

midgardur.com has grown out of an interest for expanded collaboration between individuals, places of work, schools and other places for disabled within the Nordic countries.

For a disabled worker or a trainee that doesn’t have the same opportunities as others to work or study in his/her homeland, not to mention in another country, this is a possibility that can lead to new and unexpected experiences.

Everyone over the age of 18 can apply to take part in an exchange project.
The visits may last from 7 days till 4 months.

Exchanges of individuals and groups have already been accomplished between some Nordic countries.

The experience made from these projects has been positive throughout and it has given us the means to further develop our continued collaboration.

midgardur.com wants to increase the movability for trainees and to attract the knowledge and the competence that already exists within both trainees and employers at schools, homes and places of work.

Many schools and workplaces have good facilities to receive individuals for shorter or longer stay and are prepared to do so.

Visitors and staff is given an opportunity to share, learn from others and get inspired, and then to carry further their knowledge to other places/countries.

Exciting and interesting work is evolving in many places for the mentally disabled in the Nordic countries.
The problem is that these places often do not know of each other or all the work that others are doing.

This project will strengthen the Nordic contact-network and increase the possibilities for the disabled to educate him-/herself in another place or abroad.

Many places search for more variable tasks and new solutions with greater flexibility for trainees and staff.

We can only make the best from what we have accomplished so far.
We have the knowledge, the experience and the will to expand the Nordic collaboration.
